Evaluation of deadspace effects created by heat and moisture exchange filter during artificial lung ventilation in newborns

چکیده

Heat and moisture exchange filters create additional dead space, comparable in volume to physiological, premature newborns. It makes carbon dioxide remove difficultу. Reducing the space by increasing flow ventilator circuit can lead hypocapnia. Aim of study was determine safety efficiency gas boost hypercapnia compensation created space. Material methods. The effect a heat filter on hemoglobin saturation partial pressure at end expiration newborns flows 5 6 l/min studied. Results discussion. has been demonstrated that 5–6 satisfactorily compensate for deadspace without Conclusions. is possible recommend widespread use newborn weighing least 1.0 kg during long-term transportation.

Heat and moisture exchangers in artificial ventilation. An experimental study of the effect of gas leakage.

The effect of gas leakage around an uncuffed tracheal tube on the performance of Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HME) was examined experimentally. Such leaks were shown to cause measurable decreases in the humidity output and efficiency of HME. The magnitude of the decrease in humidity output was shown to be dependent upon the proportion of expired volume which was leaked, and on the inspired vol...

Comparison of ventilation and gas exchange in anaesthetized infants and children during spontaneous and artificial ventilation.

Measurements of minute and alveolar ventilation (VE and VA), respiratory frequency, end-tidal carbon dioxide concentration (E'CO2), deadspace (VD) and carbon dioxide output (VCO2) were made in 22 anaesthetized infants and young children during spontaneous (SV) and intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV). In the children who had been given an opioid premedication, E'CO2 concentrations ...

Adaptive servo-ventilation and deadspace: effects on central sleep apnoea.

Central Sleep Apnoea (CSA) occurs commonly in heart failure. Adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV) and deadspace (DS) have been shown in research settings to reverse CSA. The likely mechanism for this is the increase of PaCO(2) above the apnoeic threshold. However the role of increasing FiCO(2) on arousability remains unclear. To compare the effects of ASV and DS on sleep and breathing, in particula...
